Charming sophistication and tranquility
Complementing the resident's style and passion for entertaining, this secluded yard in Oakville is the pinnacle of outdoor living. Integration of luxurious materials and fluid areas for relaxing coax an atmosphere of charming sophistication and tranquility. A sense of balance throughout the site is achieved through stunning contrasts, such as the monochrome stone palette paired with the warm hearty wood tones, and the smooth hardscape finishes with the lush plant textures.
An organic soundtrack
Setting the stage, the entry to the yard was no exception and includes custom-cut corten steel privacy screens and self-closing stainless steel gate with etched glass inserts. As the focal point, the pool anchors the yard and streamlines both form and function. Three water spouts set in the tiered wall add an organic soundtrack and muffle the hum of the bustling neighbourhood, allowing the homeowners to entertain with a sense of escape. Hidden from view, the linear drainage system in the patio follows the joint lines of the stone and collects water run-off for dispersal throughout the planting areas.
Integrated Lighting and Audio
Overlooking the entire yard, the deck features a large permanent umbrella, and glass guardrails to maintain the open concept and view. Below, the covered lounge area boasts a gas fireplace, integrated audio and LED lighting system. The black brick skirting grounds the privacy wall and columns, and is a repeated style that unifies the space.
Indoor / Outdoor Living
Sheltered by the cabana overhang, the stainless steel bar ledge and mirror testifies to the charm of blurring indoor/outdoor living. The fully finished interior of the cabana hosts a change room area, storage, fridge and houses the pool equipment. To soften the expanse of hardscaping in the yard both green walls and a green roof were included and enhance the view from the deck. Aside from the aesthetic gain, the green roof also benefits different pollinator species and reduces the heating/cooling costs of the cabana.
Privacy to sip and soak
Sheltered among columnar evergreens, the recessed hot tub is enjoyed with a sense of privacy. Custom elements of this alcove include 'floating' stone steps which provide easy access, and a custom stainless steel ledge to allow 'soaking and sipping'.
